2007 Endowed Professorship at The University of Hong Kong 香港大學明德教授席
Professor Wah-kit Lam (林華杰教授) has been awarded the Mok Hing-Yiu Professorship in Respiratory Medicine, the first Endowed Chair in Respiratory Medicine from the University of Hong Kong in April 2007. Endowed Professorships at the University of Hong Kong is a privileged honour bestowed upon her distinguished academics.
Professor Lam has been closely associated with our professional chest societies. He was:
-The founding Honorary Secretary (1986 – 89) and President (1989 – 91) of the Hong Kong Thoracic Society
-The founding Chairman of the Hong Kong Lung Foundation (1996 – 99)
-The founding Chairman of the Specialty Board in Respiratory Medicine, Hong Kong College of Physicians (1993 – 2000)
-President (1986 – 88) and Regent (2000 – 2003) of the HK and Macau Chapter of American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), and received the Manuel Albertal Award from the ACCP in 2002
-President of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (2002 – 04)
-The first Chair Professor in Respiratory Medicine at the University of Hong Kong in 1997
and he is still serving on the HKTS Committee Board, giving us invaluable advice and guidance all the times.
